I started my career as a medical assistant in a small, rural community in the Midwest more than 30 years ago. After one year, I realized that I wanted to help others achieve their health goals. I have worked in a variety of places and realized my passion is to help individuals understand how lifestyle “choices” impact our health. Our work and home environment can have a negative or positive effect. Air pollution can cause breathing problems. Nutrition and activity can affect our mental health as much as our physical, human body.
In Family/Occupational Medicine, I have worked as an Advance Practice Nurse for eighteen years. I have learned to listen to each individual’s concerns to meet their needs. I try to explain in simple terms and communicate answers with a motivation for change with personal understanding. This helps me build relationships with employees/patients by sharing my journey.
Each person has a unique story that has brought them to seek health care. I have learned to listen and ask questions about their life story. I strive to communicate so the individual can understand how medications, exercise and nutrition can improve their health.
